According to Internet World Stats, Nigeria now has a whopping 43,982,200 users on the internet, making it No. 1 is Africa, more than times 2 of the internet users in Egypt (17,060,000) and More than times 8 of South Africa's Internet users (5,300,000). In my previous post, I talked about open data and how making the Nigerian postcode data open and more accessible has a wide potential for powering several applications. I’ve received several comments on Facebook with even more examples on how that data could be useful. In this post, I would share how this extraction was done and how similar extraction scripts or scrapers could be written. The first step in every scraping project I begin is to understand the HTTP dialog for the website I want to scrape. So I attempt to answer questions like these: |

There are few names that come to mind when you think of Nigerian web masters who have built international sites or have international acclaim. Apart from Dare Obasanjo, who works for microsoft and blogs [Carnage4Life], the name that comes to mind is Oo Nwoye of OnePage.
Recently, Oo Nwoye posted on facebook that the founder and CEO of popular Silicon Valley start up, Formspring.me, is Nigerian. It was a shock to me as well as an inspiration. So, I did some little research and found out that, He was actually born and brought up in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. He left the shores of Nigeria when he was 9 years old. He is 31 years old at the moment.
