Nigerian postcodes now accessible online

Imagine filling a form online and you are asked to enter your postcode, what do you fill in? In the early days I used 23401 which is for a town in the US, somehow the sites accepted the code and took it to be a US based user. To easily target people with information and serve Nigerian internet users better, it is of great importance that we have these codes in accessible format... now here comes the solution! Tim Akinbo, one of Nigeria's brilliant programmer has solved the problem and make the data available online. It's currently hosted on Google Fusion Lab, you can test it out here.

CopyCats! Google Copies Bing in Image Search Revamp...Literally.

Google yesterday revamped its Image Search service, in a way that seems like a copy and paste of Bing's Image search service. In the new Google Image Search, Only Images are shown, and you do not have to click to go to different pages, you can scroll down the page to at least a viewing of 1,000 images! Google acquires MetaWeb...seeks to understand Search better.

Yesterday, Google acquired Metaweb, a company that maintains an open database of things in the world. The Aim? To improve search and make the web richer and more meaningful for everyone.

Google says it is acquiring Metaweb to enable it better respond to Semantic Search queries, queries like "How many Nigerian Schools are in the North?" or "actors over 40 who have won at least one oscar?".
